KidsClub

The university's KidsClub provides a place for the children of scientists who come to Heidelberg University for a guest stay where they can spend time and make new friends. A backup service is also offered there. If required and if space is available, children of congress participants can also be looked after there. A team of multilingual professional lovingly look after the children aged between one and six years - playing, crafts and excursions are on the daily programme.

Visiting scholars with child(ren)

  1. Concept: The KidsClub offers day care for children of visiting scholars aged between one and six years.  It is a short-term care facility, i.e. a stay there is limited to a maximum of 3 months, unless there are still places available.
  2. Childcare hours: Monday to Friday 8.30 am - 4 pm/by the hour (open all year round from Monday to Friday; with the exception of public holidays and the bridging days between the years)
  3. Costs: 5 euros per child and hour for university members and employees of other academic institutions
  4. Registration: Registration takes place directly via the KidsClub. Please fill in the form (see right) and send it by e-mail to the KidsClub. You can also contact KidsClub by telephone if you have any questions about childcare or availability.
  5. Payment:  After the childcare has been provided, the Service for Families will send you an invoice by e-mail. We do not need a confirmation of payment from you.

Backup-Service

  1. Concept: The KidsClub backup service offers university members short-term childcare for children between the ages of one and six in the event of special childcare needs, e.g. in unforeseen situations and emergencies. Children can be looked after at short notice for hours, days or even weeks (e.g. until another form of childcare can be found).
  2. Childcare hours: Monday to Friday 8.30 am - 4 pm 
    - by the hour (at least 3 hours; mornings, afternoons or all day)
    - for full-day care, a maximum of two consecutive days
    - Open all year round from Monday to Friday; with the exception of public holidays and bridging days between the years
  3. Costs: 10 euros per child and hour for members of Heidelberg University, Heidelberg University of Education (PH) and for external participants.
  4. Registration: You can register directly via the KidsClub. Please complete the form (see right) and send it to KidsClub by e-mail. You can also contact KidsClub by telephone if you have any questions about childcare or availability.
  5. Payment: Please transfer the amount for childcare to the account of Heidelberg University before you bring your child to the childcare centre. Bring the transfer receipt with you on the first day of childcare together with the information sheet when you bring your child to childcare. Cash payment is not possible!
